The curve of a neckline, A hand-thrown pottery bowl filled with ripe fruit, Fall sunlight filtered through a
grove of trees...
These are where I draw inspiration for my watercolors.
My subject matter focuses on intimate
portraits, still lifes, and landscapes because this is where I find beauty. While many artists feel the need to express their
pain, anger, or political views through their work, I alternately want to find respite through my work. I want to provide
a little window of escape: escape for me as the creator and escape for the viewer.
Life is hectic, schedules are jam-packed,
sitting for a moment fills us with guilty pleasure. We fill our eyes with tv ads and MTV. We fill our ears with the latest
radio news spin and non-stop music. We eat badly, sleep badly, and rarely stop to chat with the neighbors or to have a cup
of coffee with a friend. So slow down. Pause a moment to listen to the crickets at dusk. Pet the cat. Call your mom. Buy a
painting and watch it instead of tv...you might be surprised by what you see.
